About the Show
County commissioners have a hand in MANY aspects of daily life in the Twin Cities metro beyond driver’s licenses and marriage certificates: housing, waste management, public safety, infrastructure, healthcare…the list goes on. The 7-person board of commissioners manages a budget upwards of $3 billion every year.
In this live show and forum, host Tane Danger will ask candidates Marion Greene and Abdihakim Ibrahim how they plan to balance the budget and manage priorities in the commissioner role, including the future of HCMC amidst a catastrophic loss of cash reserves; whether (and how) HERC will close; and the county’s relationship to state and federal government. Afterwards, we’ll bring up our cast to perform entirely spontaneous comedy scenes based on the debate.

About the Guests
ABDIHAKIM IBRAHIM is an engineer, crisis-tested public servant, and father raising three kids in Hennepin County. After surviving the civil war in Mogadishu, Somalia, Abdihakim built a global career that included education in Lahore, Pakistan, and work in the UAE before settling in St. Louis Park. As Vice Chair of the St. Louis Park School Board, he helped steer the district through leadership transitions, worked to expand multilingual access, and championed historic cultural calendar reforms. Fluent in six languages, Abdihakim is running for County Commissioner to fix HCMC's financial vulnerabilities, address HERC, overhaul accountability, increase affordability, protect services, and demand public safety.
MARION GREENE has served as Hennepin County Commissioner for the 3rd District since 2014. District 3 includes Downtown and Southwest Minneapolis and the entire suburb of St. Louis Park. Marion is Chair of the Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority. She is committed to building an interconnected region in which every resident can safely live, work, play, and go to school, as their most authentic selves, without fear of violence or deportation without due process.
Marion is married to Bart Cannon, and is an adoring stepmom to two grown daughters. In her free time she enjoys walking her dog and eating ice cream, ideally at the same time.
